Hello, my name is Sara Maria Acevedo, and as a disability justice activist, and disability studies scholar, and as
someone who lives with chronic illness, I support the medical abuse hotline. Medical abuse is one of the most profoundly overlooked yet common forms of institutional violence in the US today. It violates our most basic human
rights and dignity. It threatens our lives, and the lives of those we love, when the systems we depend on for our health, endanger us. Survivors of medical violence and injustice deserve to be heard. They, we, deserve access to
resources for community-driven documentation and Know Your Medical
Rights advocacy tools, like this herstoric hotline will provide. Justice is the best medicine. Join us, support us, call us.
