Gamecocks turn to freshman QB with Bentley injured

GAMECOCKS AFTER THEIR LOSS TO NORTH CAROLINA. GAMECOCKS SENIOR QUARTERBACK JAKE BENTLEY COULD BE GONE FOR THE SEASON. BENTLEY SUFFEREDA SPRAINED FOOT ON THE GAME’S FINAL PLAY. THEY’LL FIND OUT WEDNESDAY IF HE NEEDS SURGERY WHICH WOULD KEEP HIM OUT ALL SEASON. 6-8 WEEKS WITHOUT SURGERY. SO FRESHMAN BACKUP RYAN HILINSKI GETS THE START SATURDAY AGAINST CHARLESTON SOUTHERN. WILL MUSCHAMP SAYS THEY WON’T LIMIT THE PLAY-CALLING FOR THE FRESHMAN. WILL MUSCHAMP, USC HEAD COACH:”WHAT DOES HE FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH IS MORE IMPORTANT NOT NECESSARILY WHAT WE’RE COMFORTABLE WITH. RYAN IS VERY INTELLIGENT, AND HE’S ADAPTED HIMSELF WELL AND WE’VE GOT TO MAKE SURE WE PLAY WELL AROUND HIM. THAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. WE CHALLENGED OUR DEFENSE AND THE REST OF THE PLAYERS OFFENSIVELY. WE NEED TO PLAY WELL AROUND THE GUY.. MAN DOWN, MAN UP – THAT’S OUR MENTALITY. THAT’S THE WAY WE’RE MOVING FORWARD.” MUSCHAMP SAYS DAKEREON JOYNER WILL STILL PLAY WIDE RECIEVER AND GET A FEW LOOKS AT QUARTERBACK AS WELL.

  1. I can't stand to hear Muschamp blow smoke anymore. He needs to get completely away from every aspect of offense. He punted on 4th and 1/2yd which gave NC the win. Do you think Bmac would have punted?
