As you watch this video you’re going to see three different types of swings: The hip hinge swing, the squat swing, and
the double knee extension swing (which is often used with those who do kettlebell
sport). They wanted to compare the muscle activity of the hamstrings between all
of these groups. A major finding was that during all contraction modes and swings
the medial hamstring had a significantly greater activity than the lateral hamstring strength, the biceps femoris. Also the hip hinge displayed a significantly greater
level of combined muscle activity during the entire repetition when compared to
the squat swing on the double knee extension swing.
